Since April 1st, 2024, I have been participating in the NARS Foundation’s International Artist-in-Residence program in New York City. Here, emerging to mid-career artists from more than 10 countries gather to stay and work, interact with each other, and get feedback from local art professionals and others.
I have long wondered if Japanese nihonga painting needed to have a more international perspective, so I applied for the program and am now here in New York.
I still struggle with many things, but I have been learning a lot from my fellow artists.
Although my stay is only three months, I hope to learn as much as I can while having fun.
